Comeback Jack no worry for coach
MWAS congratulates scholarship holder and squash talent Jack Osborn who was the WA Open winner of Division 3 recently in Perth. The win followed a busy month for competition with Jack having competed at the Geraldton Open in early May. The Geraldton Open was a silver event on the Australian Junior Squash Tour and attracted talent from the region, Perth and some internationals from the USA. Jack finished second in the Junior A Division, a great result considering Jack is only 14 and gave away four years to some of his rivals. Jack also finished runner up in the Men’s Division 1 and was the top ranked U15 boy.
In Perth, Jack had a scare going down 2-0 in one match before taking stock and comfortably taking the last three games. Coach Reto Vogel was not unduly concerned when Jack went behind “I’m surprised myself how easily I can take it when he plays poorly because I know he can turn it around”. Reto saw the “good old Jack” on court in the final where the win came in three games 9-1, 9-2, 9-3.
