Lexie on the Right Track

MWAS high jump athlete Lexie Stoner (pictured below with Graeme Watson) took up the opportunity of further training here in Geraldton joining the Carey Right Track Foundation athletics camp. The camp was open to any teen in the Mid West district in year 7 and older who wanted to be a better athlete. The young athletes were treated to some excellent instruction from the Carey team led by Shannon McCann, herself twice national 100m hurdles champion. Lexie travelled to Oregon in the USA in 2014 as part of the Right Track Foundation team and cherished that experience. “Travelling away to train and compete was an amazing experience and great motivation to work hard at my training back in Geraldton” said Lexie.

The MWAS is happy to support the work of the Carey Right Track Foundation in helping young people to advance via the medium of athletics. It is an example of how the MWAS seeks to work with sports to provide the best opportunities for young MiId West athletes who aspire to be the best they can be.
