Emma Burke MWAS 2015 Athlete of the Year

MWAS Athlete of the Year, Emma Burke (Basketball) with Jody Beven Manager of the Geraldton Community Bank branch of the Bendigo Bank and Martin FitzSimons CEO MWAS.

Congratulations to Emma Burke on being awarded the MWAS Athlete of the Year for 2015. The award seeks to reward the athlete who shows a high likelihood of reaching their potential due to their commitment to all aspects of athlete development, in addition to performance outcomes. Emma displayed a strong commitment to the sports she participates in as well as making the most of the specialist services offered by the MWAS. She contributed strongly to the services offered by the MWAS including strength training and mental skills. These skills helped her to balance a busy school and sport lifestyle with an added challenge of travelling from near Dongara to Geraldton to do so. In this respect it is important to recognise the support of Emma’s family in helping her to do all that she does. Emma made progress on her basketball pathway representing the WA Country U16 team at the national championships and being selected to the State Performance Pathway squad.

The MWAS wishes Emma all the best and looks forward to helping her along that journey in the best possible way.
