MWAS Gascoyne Bound

Blast off! One young Carnarvon Community College student launches on the vertical jump

MWAS CEO Martin FitzSimons and sport science consultant Todd Teakle travelled to Carnarvon recently to provide some fitness testing for the local athletes. The pair was able to do this having recently acquired the Smartspeed timing system that allowed a variety of physical tests to be performed.

A number of young local students were put through their paces at the Carnarvon Community College gym. The visit was conducted as part of the MWAS Gascoyne Project that seeks to increase the direction and support MWAS supplies to the region. Head of Health and Physical Education Michael Trott expressed gratitude for MWAS coming to Carnarvon. “We are really happy to have the academy come up to do this testing and give our students a chance to be recognised if they have something a bit special” said Trott.

Some notable performances from Marcus Stratton and Jakkson Roberts among the boys and eye catching jumps/sprints from a young Lakisha Taylor it is hoped that MWAS will be back in the future to continue to provide this avenue for exposure.
