Funding will enable the MWAS to open
The Hon Terry Waldron MLA, Minister for Sport and Recreation Western Australia, has announced that the Mid West Academy of Sport (MWAS) will receive $550,000 of State Government, Royalties for Regions funding over three years.
This announcement, combined with the support that has already been committed from the City of Greater Geraldton, confirms that the MWAS will commence operations after January 2014. The establishment of the MWAS is being coordinated by the Mid West Sports Federation. The Mid West Sports Federation and the MWAS would like to thank all of the people and organisations that have enabled the MWAS establishment project to reach this point. In particular, we would like to acknowledge our major establishment phase supporters; the City of Greater Geraldton, the Department of Sport and Recreation, Royalties for Regions and the Mid West Development Commission. We also extend our thanks to our vehicle partner; Geraldton Toyota, and to our media partners; The Geraldton Guardian and 96.5WAFM / Spirit 98.1. Last but not least, the volunteers of the MWAS Project Steering Group deserve a sincere thanks for their countless hours of energy, time, expertise and committment over the past four years.
The MWAS is now offering attractive sponsorship packages to businesses that are interested in promoting their business by sponsoring the MWAS. Through the impact created by developing coaches and officials, the MWAS will provide a positive influence to hundreds of people across the Mid West. Additionally, with the MWAS being open to all sports, the promotional 'reach' achieved by sponsoring the MWAS is substantial.
