SportsPower Geraldton partners with MWAS
SportsPower Geraldton is the first privately owned business to provide a direct financial contribution to the MWAS.
SportsPower’s Co-Owner, Debbie King said “We are thrilled to be aligned with the MWAS. We see this sponsorship as a sustainable investment for the development of our local athletes and coaches. An exciting spin-off from the partnership with the MWAS is that they will use their network of expert sports science and health service providers to assist us to develop a health and wellbeing program for our employees.”
MWAS Development Manager, Chris Darlington added “I am very thankful that SportsPower Geraldton has made a decision to align their business with the MWAS. The more support that the MWAS receives from local businesses, the more impact we can make across the community.”
Darlington added that although SportsPower Geraldton is the first private entity to provide direct financial support to the MWAS, there are other local businesses such as Geraldton Toyota, Spirit 98.1 and 96.5WAFM Radio and the Geraldton Guardian that are also generous and are providing significant support to the MWAS.
The establishment of the MWAS is a project that is being led by the Mid West Sports Federation. The MWAS recently received a grant of $550,000 over three-years from the Department of Sport and Recreation and Royalties for Regions. This funding, combined with an earlier commitment from the City of Greater Geraldton has enabled the MWAS to come to fruition. The MWAS is now calling for nominations for scholarships for athletes, coaches and officials. Services will commence early 2014.
